Fruit Purees: Their types and health benefits

 

Though purees are commonly used for baby food, they have wider usage. Both fruit and vegetable purees are used around the world as dietary and nutrition food for adults. Fruit purees are especially used as raw materials in the making of natural juices and pastries.

 

 

What is fruit puree?

 

Fruit puree is a mashed mass, which is made from fresh fruits or berries. After thermal processing and going through all production stages, they are filled into special aseptic foil containers.

 

In Armenia fruit purees are mainly used as baby food, that’s why, organic fruits are used exclusively during their preparation. These fruit purees can be of single-component (made from one type of fruit or berry) and multi-component (made from two or more types of fruits and berries).

 

In addition to raw fruit materials, additional components can also be used in purees, such as vitamins, minerals and micro elements, which are vital for children.

 

Types of fruit purees

 

Fruit purees vary by the type of fruits and berries used in their preparation. They are mainly divided into 3 types: fruit, berry and berry fruit puree. The most common types are apple, apricot, banana, peach, plum, cherry, currant, raspberry purees. A wide range of fruit purees, exclusively from fresh and organic materials that do not contain additives and dyes, are produced in the manufacturing plant of “Sipan”. They are healthy, delicious and nutritious both for children and adults.

 

The health benefits of fruit purees

 

Each fruit or berry has a its particular health benefits. Natural purees made from these fruits perfectly maintain the healthy benefits of fruits becoming the best option for extra nutritions for babies, and diet food for adults. Due to the high concentration of vitamin and mineral-rich ingredients, fruit purees are beneficial for the proper functionality of the baby's organism. Most of these include vitamins PP, B1, B2, C, E and minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, phosphorus and iron.

 

For example, apricot puree is a source of calcium and phosphorus, which is important for the growth of bones and teeth. And the apple puree contains a large amount of iron and vitamin C. Plum puree is rich in vitamins of Group B, which ensure the proper functionality of the central nervous system.

 

Some manufacturers add preservatives, dyes, concentrates to the fruit purees which do not have any health benefits. Purees with these supplements are not recommended for children. So before buying, it is important to carefully examine the recipe of the puree and always pay attention to the production date.
