For the certification of fruit and vegetable juices, a special document “Technical Regulation on Juice and Juice Product Requirements” has been adopted in the Republic of Armenia, approved in accordance with the relevant laws of RA, as well as taking into account the factors that prevent the existing dangers to human life and health safety. The document defines the concepts of juices and juice products, the market conditions and technical requirements, the requirements to the ingredients of juices and juice products, the names of nutritional supplements and their permissible concentrations, labeling and packaging requirements.
The information the labeling of juices and juice products should contain
The labeling of juices and juice products should comply with RA Food Safety Law and the demands of Technical Regulation.
The labeling should contain the following
1) the names of juices and juice products
2) the name and location of the producing organization (in case it exits)
3) manufacturer's trademark (if available)
4) the weight or volume of the product
5) product ingredients
6) the list of the nutritional supplements (in case they are used)
7) the country of origin of the juices and juice products
8) storage conditions
9) date of production
10) shelf – life
11) method of use (if necassary)
12) nutritional value of juices and nectars for baby food
13) mark used for batch identification
14) data on the availability of ingredients derived from the use of genetically modified organisms in food
How to interpret the labeling of juices and juice products
The interpretation of fruit and vegatable juices is not difficult at all as the information on the labels is quite clear and comprehensible. The terms of juice and juice products may interest consumers. These terms in Technical documents are indicated in the following way
